Understanding Female Impotence

Although it’s not a subject that every lady wants to talk about, female impotence is one of the most widely extended (and frustrating) sexual disorders throughout the world. Female impotence is the difficulty to be sexually aroused by a partner and thus enjoy a normal pleasant experience. When not treated adequately, female impotence may lead to frigidity.

It’s important to keep in mind that not every case of diminished sexual desire reflects a condition of female impotence; things like routine and stress can decrease a woman’s mood for sex and usually it reappears by varying the sexual habits,

like for instance using certain libido and pleasure enhancement products. If the desire does not increase even when using such products, then female impotence may be present.

There are many possible causes for female impotence. These causes include physical factors, hormonal factors, and of course psychological factors.

Physical causes of female impotence may include injury or physical trauma, due for instance to accidents or unexpected events. Physical factors also include several diseases, like certain types of herpes. If not treated correctly, damage to the tissues may be permanent and female impotence will evolve into a complete lack of sexual desire (frigidity).

Female impotence due to hormonal disorders is often temporary, and usually subsides with time when the hormonal balance is restored. This hormonal balance can be affected by several conditions, most often stress and emotional events that disturb the proper functioning of the glands, and therefore prevent the hormones in charge of stimulating sexual desire to work properly, causing female impotence.

Psychological causes of female impotence are perhaps the most difficult to treat, usually requiring years of therapy. Psychological disorders prevent the correct functioning of the sexual arousal mechanism. These disorders are usually due to a bad experience from the past, often childhood.

Women who were sexually abused as children are more likely to develop female impotence as adults. The nature of the psychological trauma makes it difficult for a woman to talk about it, which makes female impotence causes more difficult to determine.

Lack of sexual desire due to emotional factors regarding a specific sexual partner is considered normal, and is not a form of female impotence. In other words, most women just cannot feel sexual desire when they are with someone they don’t have feelings for, which is perfectly normal and doesn’t constitute female impotence.
